Understanding Your Family & Friends

Understanding Your Family & Friends

Hearing plays a big role in communicating with loved ones. Many people don’t realize, however, that hearing loss not only affects communication but is also linked to social isolation, depression, and cognitive decline. Adults with hearing loss may be up to five times as likely to develop dementia, for example, and have a 57% greater risk of deep depression.

The Good News?

Those helped with hearing aids report significant improvements in relationships, mental and physical health, social engagement, and so much more! Family members — also affected when a loved one has hearing loss — report improvements, too. Hearing your family and friends is an important part of being able to more fully understand and participate in the moments that matter.
