I honestly can’t believe what I was missing. I can hear the birds singing, it is my favorite sound now. I love my hearing aids and now that I know what it is like to actually hear I can’t live without them.

The staff is very friendly and professional. Dr. Simeo answered all of my questions and made me feel like we were going to go through this together. Any time I have any questions now I can simply call or schedule an appointment and any of the staff will help me with them.

Recently, I had to let my office administrator go. She had worked in my home office for almost three years and I had agonized over the decision. However, my business was getting ready to take off and I needed to be able to count on her full effort. Her hearing issues were getting in the way of her work.

I tried to problem-solve it by suggesting she go see Scott, a friend of mine through my Business Network International (BNI) group. She went, but told him she couldn’t afford hearing aids. But I know that Scott has all kinds of programs to help people get hearing aids at a lower cost. When I gently asked her about it several weeks later, she told me that she didn’t need them.

I tried to change my behavior and made sure I was facing her to speak and talked a little louder. After two or three months, I just couldn’t handle that she kept doing things wrong because she couldn’t hear my instructions. I found more and more mistakes. For example, a consultant of mine drove 45 minutes to pick up some items, but I got called away just as she was about to arrive. Before I left, I told my office administrator exactly where the products for the consultant were. When I returned 15 minutes later, I was upset to find the products still sitting on the administrator’s desk. My consultant had to make another drive to my house because my office administrator had not heard what I told her.

When I broke the news to my administrator that I couldn’t use her anymore, I felt I needed to be honest with her that her hearing issues were getting in the way of her work. I sell cosmetics and one time she told me that my foundation was too light. We joked around a little about the fact that no one else would tell you something like that except the office person you work with! As I was honest with her about her hearing difficulties, I ended by saying I felt like I should tell her as no one else would. Her husband’s hearing is worse than hers. I can tell by their phone conversations.

Even though it was difficult for me to talk to her about her hearing, I didn’t know who else in her life would tell her. Sometimes it is more difficult for those around someone who is hard of hearing than it is for the person with hearing loss. They don’t know all the things they are missing! And they won’t know unless you tell them in a kind way.

After leaving your office I discovered that my pickup is a rattle trap. When I first started it the radio came on and it about blasted me out. Remember me telling you I had to keep the volume up to 75 to 80 on my TV in order to hear it? When I got home I turned the TV on, set the remote down and walked into the kitchen to make a sandwich while waiting for it to come on. All of a sudden the sound came on and I had to run and grab the remote as I bet everyone in the neighborhood heard it. Anyway, now I have the volume set at 25 and really don’t even need the closed caption on now.

I’m finding out just how much I’ve been missing out on and all the little noises I haven’t heard in years. I have a cat that’s 15 years old now and she’s always liked to lay in my lap when I’m watching TV. Last night she got up in my lap and I heard her meow for the first time. Also, when I started petting her I could hear her purring for the first time. I want to thank you all again. God truly does answer prayers as I found out yesterday.

They Aim to Please

I never knew what I was missing out on until I went to Hearing Solution Centers. My hearing aids have really helped me connect to other people and to keep up with current events. I got so tired of constantly having to turn my head to look at the person who was speaking and I knew I needed help. As soon as I got the hearing aids I could tell the difference right away, listening wasn’t a chore anymore. Now I can just put the hearing aids on in the morning and forget about them. I can finally enjoy conversations again. Not only are the hearing aids great, but Dr. Young and his staff are helpful and pleasant. They always address any concerns that I have and answer all my questions. I never have to wait very long to get in to see them for adjustments. Their location is convenient and the parking is fantastic. Being able to hear has really enhanced my life.

When I first decided I needed help with my hearing I went to a nationally known provider, but after the exam they seemed more interested in selling me rather than trying to ensure my hearing needs were addressed. Then I went to see Dr. Young and was so impressed by his level of professionalism and concern for his patients.
